DATTO 2020

This series was designed to celebrate and highlight how Datto Partners have helped their small and medium sized business customers persevere through technological challenges brought on by the COVID-19 Pandemic. As a company, we wanted to convey a joyful spirit that would carry on beyond the pandemic, allowing Datto to continue to highlight MSPs as they help their SMB customers in an increasingly digital working world.

The Introduction

In order to convey that joy, I took inspiration from the the concept that MSPs are like celebrities to their customers, and to Datto. While the star motif takes a literal approach to the name, I used it as a way to reflect the idea of a name plate on a backstage door - as if we are getting a real backstage look at the work MSPs have been putting in, and the passion that they feel for the IT community.

Lower Thirds

I designed the lower thirds to carry on the high energy by including looping animated backgrounds to create a shooting star effect. The template includes backgrounds that stretch to fit the longest line of text, along with a preset list of branded color combinations.

Using the simple Background looping star motif allows editors to create versatile calls to action while maintaining brand standards. Both title and text screens contain a quick menu of branded color choices, with predetermined text colors. Type in any number of lines will remain centered, and editors can choose to remove callout elements should they need additional text cards. The title card leaves room for editors to add the logo of the featured MSP.

Transition

Inspired by old-school star wipes, I designed the transition to feel a little bit like a pop-music video. Editors have control of the delay between each concentric layer in order to create a more or less exaggerated offset of each star animation.
